CPI in May eases to 4.25 per cent
14-Jun-2023The headline inflation eased
sharply in the month of May 2023, falling to 4.25 per cent as against 4.70 per
cent recorded in April 2023. Besides the base effect, the easing of the CPI
inflation was largely on account of decline in food inflation, with a major
contribution from vegetable and cereal prices. Further, lower LPG and kerosene
prices also helped bringing down the fuel inflation.
