Two external members of the six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have made a strong pitch for cutting the policy repo rate, held at 6.5 per cent since February 2023.These two members also favoured change in the policy stance from withdrawal of accommodation to neutral. The next meeting of the MPC is scheduled during August 6 to 8, 2024.
